Choosing the Ring Body
As your search for the perfect diamond engagement ring begins, it is crucial to know the different types of ring body styles that can accentuate your solitaire diamond and enhance the overall beauty of the engagement ring.
Cathedral Style
A classic style imitating the grandeur of a cathedral architecture. This setting is a marriage of function and form. The design lifts the center stone higher off the finger – elevating the diamond and allowing it to reflect off more light in a dazzling display of brilliance and fire, while creating what looks almost like a basket on the underside of the ring.
Tapered Style
Characterised by how the ring body tapers closer to the center diamond solitaire. It highlights the center solitaire while giving the ring the appearance of a neater and slimmer band.
Twist Style
A twist style typically features a sweeping effect in the claws or shoulders of the ring. This design is more vintage and traditional while still adding a unique one-of-a-kind feel to the ring.
Split Shank
The ring’s body divides as it nears the center diamond solitaire, giving the illusion of having two ring bands. Such designs will have a visible gap between the band and the center diamond or halo. This can have the effect of making the ring appear larger. The graceful split shank design is able to complement many diamond sizes.
